After volunteering to take Lyssa's brother's place as male tribute of District Seven, the pair had been carted off somewhere. Somewhere where they had to wait until the train came for them. It was seperate rooms, they couldn't see each other. Maybe Blaine didn't want to. Maybe Lyssa was somehow mad at him for what he'd done? He didn't really know how that was possible, but his brain was all scrambled right now. He wasn't too sure what was going on. He just sat, quietly, trying to sort out his mind and get a grip of the few previous events. He was a contender in the Hunger Games now. The Capitol had pretty much free reign over his fate - he just had to play his part in their 'games'. Because that was what he was. Just a piece to control in this horror.
His family - well, siblings - burst into the room at that point, all of them immediately throwing their bodies at him, hugging him tightly to the point of which he couldn't breathe. He didn't even care. Blaine hugged them just as tightly, closing his eyes and taking in as much of them as possible. He didn't know when he was going to see them again, if at all. Maybe never. Immediately throwing that gruesome thought away, he withdrew from the hug, getting down on his knees to talk to them all individually. He started with Alice, the youngest, working his way up to Dallas, who Blaine could see was trying to be strong, causing a smile to twinge at the corners of his lips. After telling him that he had to be in charge now, that he had to look after the rest of his siblings for him, Blaine noticed a tear fall from his brother's eye, immediately scooping him into his arms again and squeezing him tightly. His token, given to him by Noah, was his brother's favourite badge. A simple circle, with two axes inside, positioned to make a cross. After giving out more hugs, saying his goodbyes, and trying desperately not to cry, his siblings were ushered out of the room, and he was packed up on a train.
Blaine caught up with Lyssa quite quickly, figuring it was probably best to start talking now, form an allegiance, if at all. That, and he guessed he owed it to her. She deserved to know who was taking her brother's place. They'd spoken a little before, enough to know the other was nice enough, but he wouldn't go as far as to call them friends. Maybe this would change that? Except Blaine knew, on some levels, he couldn't. Because one of them was going to die, and he didn't want to get attached if he could help it. Tapping her lightly on the shoulder to get her attention, he shot her a small smile. " Hey, Lyssa, "

It was hard to wrap her head around this whole thing. What was she going to do. As much as she wished she would make it home, she knew deep down in her gut that she wouldn't see her family. It was a hard thing to deal with but it was just how it was going to be. There was a point, she knew where she would have to say her final goodbye to them. She knew which one would be the hardest. there were the closest in age and thus she was the closest to him. She was the world to him and he looked up to her in every way. She just hoped that when she did die, they wouldn't let him see it. It would destroy the young boy.
When they had entered the room, her mother had given her a hug and left quickly. Though Lyssa had heard the sob escape as the woman ran through the doorway. Next was Jesse, she didn't hug him just yet. She looked him straight in the eyes and he knew what she meant. He knew she wouldn't be coming home. He also knew that they had to keep JC out of the games at whatever the cost. The boy was going to have a life. She wouldn't let what some boy she barely knew did be done in vain. then she hugged him. Though she didn't let her tears fall just yet. Kevin was by far the easiest. Nothing made to be said. A simple fist bump and a half hug was all they needed. For them it was enough. Then she knelt down in front of JC, brushing his hair out of his face. He gave her a sad smile and she kissed both his cheeks. Her hugged her tight and whispered I love you forever in her ear. Then he wrapped a green piece of leather string with a wooden heart on it around her left wrist. At the gesture she pulled off her father's old necklace and placed it in JC's hand. The tears fell down his face as he hugged her again before Jesse had to tear the boy away from her. He screamed and kicked until they were so far away she could no longer hear him.
When someone tapped, her shoulder, Lyssa turned around to see Blaine. Tear tracks streaked her face. She had been crying for a while. JC was literally her world. That boy have to survive or two people would have possibly died for nothing. Hey, Lyssa. She brushed her hair from her face. Hello, Blaine. This was too much. She owed this boy so much. He had saved her baby brother. you er.. how're you holding up? When she spoke, she didn't answer his question. Why did you do it?

When Lyssa turned round, he could see the tear stains across her face, down her cheeks. Blaine just felt immediately so much worse, sick to his stomach. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that the Capitol was making them do this, was making them fight, for nothing. For what, the glory of winning? Food for the district? A nice house? Blaine didn't care. Twenty three children died each year, so that one District could enjoy the fact that one of their tributes had actually been victorious. It was stupid. Blaine hated it, he hated everything, and he even hated himself for managing to stay calm, when people around him were breaking down. He reckoned he wasn't going to last long. The other tributes, they'd see him. How relaxed he was, or at least managed to appear, would annoy them. He'd be out like a shot. If he died, no doubt Blaine wanted Lyssa to win, to take the victory for their District, to be able to return to her brothers. Both of their chances were slim, but they could hope. Couldn't they?
He watched as she brushed hair from her face, biting his bottom lip a little and letting his eyes sullen over slightly. Blaine ran a hand through his curls absent mindedly, taking a deep breath to just calm his body. It was the only reason he managed to stay relatively ok. He just had to keep a tight grip on reality, the harsh, harsh reality, and accept the fact he was going to die. He'd come to terms with it. Only a matter of time before twenty three other tributes did, too. Hello, Blaine.
He nodded a little, trying to block out the slight waver in her tone. She was upset, and oh god, he hated it. He hated the Capitol for what they did to innocent children. Why did you do it? He swallowed back a little in surprise, when she didn't answer his question. Blaine sighed softly, glancing down, before back up into her eyes. " I couldn't let your family have two kids in the Games.. I looked around, and.. I saw your parents.. they just.. they looked so hurt. " He shook his head a little. " And you.. you'd have to fight against your brother.. see him.. die.. I couldn't let that happen. " WORDS : Idk. This was the hardest thing she had ever had to do. Lyssa couldn't stand the fact that she was never see JC again. She had come to terms with the fact that she would die but that didn't mean she was going to go down easily. If she could make it back to them she would. Though her chance were slim. She was tiny and not very muscular. She knew how to use an axe. Though it was merely a throwing axe and thus not as heavy as a regular one. She also had a small dagger tucked into her boot. That was for when she had to charge someone when her axe was embedded in the bark of a tree near by and she could get it. Though she hoped she would never have to turn on Blaine. She couldn't do it after everything that he had done just by volunteering to take JC's spot.
It was hard for her to figure out why Blaine was so calm. Even if he had come to terms with his fate, she didn't understand how he could be that calm. He didn't even have to be here. He didn't have to save her baby brother and certainly hadn't had to put his family though this pain just to save her family more pain. They already knew pain. I couldn't let your family have two kids in the Games.. I looked around, and.. I saw your parents.. they just.. they looked so hurt. Her parents? Their father had been dead for three months now. Did he not remember that? Or did he confuse Jesse for her father? The two did look so much alike. And you.. you'd have to fight against your brother.. see him.. die.. I couldn't let that happen. She gave him a weak smile. It looked like she might cry again. I am ever so grateful for you. You are the reason my baby brother still has a chance to live a normal life. If you survive and I don't, I know my family will find a way to show their graditude. The best I can offer you is one less person you have to worry about trying to kill you.
