Reaping Day. Not exactly a day anyone looked forward to, unless you count the people who lived in the Capitol, waiting for their entertainment to arrive. People in the Districts though..It was hell on Earth. Waiting in a crowd, dreading the wait as you wait to hear a name to be called, it could be yourself or a loved one. Or even some helpless twelve year old who had been unfortunate enough to be chosen for the games. It wasn't right..The whole concept of the Hunger Games.
Jade's family really only had to worry about her. She was the only child that was still within the age limit. Her brother, Becquerel almost had to be sent off to participate, but his best friend stepped forward, volunteering. Becquerel wasn't scared of him dying, feeling that he would do well...The heart-break on his face when he died...Jade didn't want that to happen again. It almost killed her to see it. Which was the main reason why Jade didn't want to be in the Games. Knowing that look would be on her brother's face again? She couldn't deal with that.
She stands with the other girls, her hair falling in her face as they all wait for the first name to be called. Jade didn't really think she had much chance of avoiding it. She had thirty-five slips with her name to be drawn out. Her family was pretty poor..So she'd made the exchange for tesserae and raising her chances of participating. Finally, at long last, the Capitol representative stepped forward, drawing out the name of the female tribute. Jade closed her eyes, taking a few deep breaths. She didn't want anyone to be called out. She was pretty close, or at least she liked, all of the girls in her District. Then, at long last, the name was called "Jade Harely"
[/b][/i]. Everything fall silent. Jade freezes in her place. Her name is called again, before one of the older girls grabs her, pushing her out so she's in view. Swallowing back a lump in her throat, she walks over to the stage, her legs shaking and growing weaker with each step, and her eyes were misting over. Jade was expecting to have her legs buckle under her before she even reached the stage, and curling into a ball while sobbing her eyes out, but surprisingly, she managed to get on the stage, and stand before the next name was called. She looks around, trying to see the faces of everyone. Some looked shocked that she'd been chosen, others didn't care. Then, her gaze falls on Bec. The look on his face...it was the same look when his friend died on the Games. She held his gaze for a few seconds, breaking it as she looks at the floor, shaking as she burst into silent sobs, trying not to draw any more attention to it. She just tries to block out what's going on, that she only just heard the name of the male tribute being called/ "Finn Hudson"[/b][/i] Just as she thought if things could get any worse...they did. A great deal so. As close as she was to Finn, she didn't want him to be alongside her, and risk losing him in the Games. She just didn't want him in the games over all.. It wasn't on the same levels of Bec but it still hurt to know that there was a chance that he was either going to die, or a very small chance that she would ending up having to kill him or vice versa. Taking a deep breath, Jade tries to calm herself as she watches him step forward. Would anyone step forward for either of them? Probably not...who would want to participate in something that meant certain death, after all? WORDS:[/B] 643 MUSE:[/B] THIS IS WAR[/B][/FONT][/SIZE][/URL] TAGS:[/B] FINN! Post by Finn Andrew Hudson on Dec 29, 2011 20:37:10 GMT
Finn had been dreading Reaping day for at least a few weeks now. He always got so much more skittish, so jumpy, fearing almost everything. He completed his jobs in silence, giving an ocassional nod every now and then, maybe a half hearted smile. But that was it. For him, the Games were just.. they were the worst possible thing on earth. Maybe it was the same story for others, too, but Finn had reasons to fear it. He came from a relatively big family, the Hudsons were known throughout District Eleven, but probably only because of their height. They were usually able to harvest the most from trees, earning themselves a bit more money when it came to trading. But they weren't hated. Finn's mother was pleasant to everyone, and so was his father. At least, he had been. Until he'd hung himself. Finn didn't understand why at the time, his father had been happy, why should he? But it just happened to be at the same time when his eldest brother had been entered into the Hunger Games, when he was only little, too young for the Reaping. He'd died - when did anyone from District Eleven ever win? - and effectively, it had killed his father, too. His mother had lost a bit of her shine, after that. Except it just.. it didn't stop there. The next year? His sister. She'd managed to make it further, until the final five, before she was brutally speared from behind. Finn had honestly thought his mother was on her way out, too, but she was strong. He had to be stronger, though. For his mother, for his remaining two younger siblings. He just hated it, how each Reaping, his mother would endlessly cry, go into a state of depression. Finn hated to see her like that so much, and in all honesty, he was dreading his luck. Because, well, he had nothing but the bad kind.
Waiting was like.. torture. The worst kind. Where Finn wanted to give them the information they needed, he really did, but he didn't have it, or didn't even know what they wanted. He stood in silence, glancing over at his younger sisters from time to time. They had both been in the Reaping a few times now, and thank god they'd been lucky enough to never get chosen. At least, not yet. For Finn? It was his last year. If he made it now, without getting chosen, he'd be safe to look after his siblings as best as he could for the rest of his life. He wanted that. He wanted that so badly, but something just.. something told him it wasn't going to happen. How Finn wished it would. Jade Harley.
[/b] Good god, how had he managed to drift off? Finn knew. He was trying to block it all out, pretend like it wasn't there, like he wasn't a part of it. Unfortunately, he was, and now? Jade was an even bigger one. Finn knew her, well, and really.. he couldn't bear to see her go up there so slowly. She was fourteen. Fourteen. The same age as one of his sisters, and he just.. it wasn't fair. He didn't have much time to cry internally about it though, because shock and hate and a whole load of other emotions hit him like a cannonball not soon after. Finn Hudson.[/b] No.. no, he couldn't be.. no. Swallowing fiercely, Finn looked down to the ground, screwing his eyes shut. He wasn't there, he wasn't there, he wasn't there. It was worth a try, but when you tower over everyone else, chances are you're screwed. Pulling as much of a determined face as he could, wanting to be strong for his sisters and his mother, who he didn't dare look at, Finn slowly started towards the stage. He stood in silence beside Effie as she spoke, waiting and just.. just not moving, not daring to, when everyone started to clear out. What could he do? Glancing over at Jade, he noticed her body was shaking, causing him to wince to himself. Slowly, he crossed over to her, wrapping his arms around her small body carefully and holding her close to his chest, resting his chin on top of his head. " Hey, shh.. it's.. it's okay, Jade.. I've got you.. "[/color] WORDS :[/color] I don't knoww. TAG :[/color] Jade. :] MUSE :[/color] LITTLE BY LITTLENOTES :[/color] I didn't plan for Finn to have such a morbid history. Hrm. Sorry, haha. And omg. SO. MUCH. EFFORT. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/justify]

Jade didn't really know much about Finn's family, but she had heard that thye didn't have much luck when it came to the Reapings. So it must have been incredibly hard for him and his family that they were having another child go and participate in the Games -- he only had a year left as well, and he'd only have to worry about his siblings safety. He didn't have the same ability to hide from the crowd like everyone else -- which did made Jade feel a little better about her height, though just the feeling of this completely knocked that off completely. Finn couldn't move either from the looks of things, when he got on stage. It was quite unsettling, actually how much this affected people so much to the point where they couldn't even move. Only just noticing that people had started to clear out, Jade looks over at Finn when he walks over to her, immediately wrapping her arms around his waist, not really being able to reach much higher because of their height difference. She lets herself just get swallowed in Finn's arms as he wraps his arms round her, sniffing quietly into his chest. "Hey, shh.. it's.. it's okay, Jade.. I've got you.. ". She sighs a little, turning her head slightly. "I just...don't want Bec being sad if I die...He's already lost someone because of this.." She sniffs before wiping her eyes, looking up at him "And it's the same with you...Your family's already been through so much already"
