Rolling into Capital, Lyssa noticed that everything was so big. She and Blaine hadn't spoke much on the way here. They were too focused on dealing with. If they were lucky, only one of them would make it how to their family. These games were horrible. She was still trying to figure out how they had gotten to this place. When her name had been pulled she was surprised but not too surprised. She and Kevin had gone for the tessera. Sparing JonCristoper, their youngest brother, from having to during his first games. She had done thirteen. While Kevin had twenty-seven. There family would be while feed, also if something had happened, their family would be fine. Jesse would take care of their mother and JC, as he was passed his competition days. She still knew how much losing two of them would destroy her mother. There had already lost on to the games, her older sister Abigail. That was two years ago.
They had gone to the reaping, knowing full well they might lose another of them. It was just too much to handle. At the sound of Melyssa St. James, she had watched Jesse's face fall. It had killed him to here her name. They both knew she wouldn't make it back. She wasn't as strong as Kevin but she would fight. The crowd was silent. No one would take pity on the St. James girl. Like the lose of a sister wasn't enough, their father had been crushed by a tree three months ago. She pushed the thoughts from her mind as they pulled the male tribute. Hearing JonCristper St. James, her heart shattered. He was barely twelve and already he woul have to suffer. Then she had heard someone volunteer. It had surprised her. She barely knew the boy by the name of Blaine Anderson. Though he had saved her baby brother for another year and she was ever so grateful of him.
The tributes were being placed into a room together. They were still waiting on other districts to arrive. Her thought had been distracting her so much that she had run into some boy. Looking at him, it was obvious that he was from a Careers district. His clothes were much better than thought of the deceased lumberjack's daughter. She was thinking he'd get mad at her. Though, she would sigh away. She had to be tough. This was for her family after all. She was getting them food and if she could win they would get much more.

Zachary had always been more on the patient side, and he guessed he had to thank that fact when it came down to the Reaping. The girls went first, as always, so he, like the rest of the males in District Four, had been kept waiting. He wasn't so sure about Effie Trinket. Looked a little.. well. She was very Capitol. Being one of the Careers, he supposed he liked them a little more than the lesser Districts, but no-one truly had any strong feelings towards the Capitol, aside from pure hatred. They made innocent kids fight each other to the death, after all. Wasn't exactly.. nice. Zach started to scuff his shoe on the ground a little, waiting for the name to be called out, and when it echoed throughout the courtyard, his gaze wandered over to the group of girls. Vriska Serket.
Well. He knew of her. They weren't so much friends, but this was Vriska. She tended to be a bit of a bitch to almost everyone. Certainly interesting to see how she coped in the arena, but he couldn't dwell on that thought for too much, because Effie was trotting over to the boys' bowl. She took it slow, for effect most likely, but really, Zach's patience was starting to wear thin. Finally, she picked a slip, bringing it out of the bowl and reading it out, loud and clear in that high pitched voice of hers. Zachary Everdeen.
He'd been surprised, to hear his name. He was an only child, supporting a family of two since he was twelve, meaning he had thirty-seven slips with his name on in there. Zach had guessed his odds were okay, but here he was, on his way to the Capitol. He hadn't exactly spoken much to Vriska. They weren't in front of the cameras, didn't need to. That's what their mentor had chosen to make them do. Act as buddies in front of the camera, but when it wasn't there? They'd been told it didn't matter, so long as they didn't make an obvious hatred known, or anything like that. That was fine with Zach. He'd just been placed in this room for now, with the other tributes, waiting. Well. He'd started walking around a little, only to be bumped into by a girl. By the looks of her, District Seven. Raising an eyebrow, he slipped his hands into his pockets, looking down at her. " Can I help you? "

So, maybe she really should pay more attention to where she was going. Then again, she was a St. James. People were harsh to them but they didn't exactly favor them. More or less, she saw a lot of pity on the faces of the people aroud her. She tended to deal with people being nice to her only because they felt sorry about Abigail. Though everyone had loved Abby. She'd been the most well respected St. James in Distract Seven. Though the perky girl was dead now. She'd placed thirteenth in the games about two years ago. The pity only got worse when her father passed three months ago. She could only imagine how much worse it would get when she died. Though she was trying hard not to think about that.
When the boy looked down at her, Lyssa kept her face stone, emotionless. She wasn't going to let anyone see the hurt. Blaine knew it was there but he was no threat to her. They had a pact of sorts. This boy might not be so nice to her in the arena. So, showing weakness wasn't an option. Can I help you? Her lips almost twitched in a smirk but she stopped them. Now was not the time to be cocky like Jesse. That might make things worse. A suggestion might be to watch where you are going. Where had the spunk come from? It hadn't been there before. She certainly hoped he wouldn't take it the wrong way and mark her out a target from the beginning.
