When he'd heard her name, it took all his focus to keep his facial feature still as stone. They weren't super close but they knew well enough that they got along. She was the daughter of his father's right hand man. Also Rachel Berry was now the female tribute for District One. While no one else could tell that she was far from fine, he knew. He'd seem the glimpse in her eyes when they had locked with his. He knew that she had let him see it. Both of them grew up in a life where what everyone saw was all an act. They had to play the part. If anyone knew his true personality it would be this girl. Just as he knew her. The entire coward was quiet at the moment. It didn't matter that in District One being a tribute was something people wanted to be. Volunteers were common. Especially when younger children were picked. Though no one stepped up for her as she began her slow walk towards the stage. It was hard to watch but yet he couldn't look away from her.
When she settled into her place on stage, the Capitial representative beamed. The male tribute would be drawn next. There were many out there that wished their name might be drawn but it if came down to it, they would never volunteer. He knew this much as he finally tore his eyes away from Rachel and looked over the crowd. Anyone was anxious. This reaping might turn out better than expected with a female tribute of such high status already choosen. With paper in hand, the representitve approached the mic. Sebastian Smythe. The hum of energy over the crowd died away. The major's son was the male tribute. He was the male tribute. He moved from where he stood next to his father's men. His father's face had fallen to stone. Secretly, he was glad. Maybe he could make sure that Rachel made it home safely to her father and mother.
When Sebastian stepped on to the stage, he moved to his place next to Rachel. They stood close enough that she was able to give his hand a reassuring sqeezing without anyone noticing. The man was still at the mic and his father's smile had slipped back into place. There you go ladies and gentleman, your District One tributes. There was a pause as he turned to look at them May the odds be ever in your favor. The reaping finished despite that it seemed to drag on for forever. The two never moving an inch. Even as the crowd cleared away they still reminded there. Soon the celebration would bring for those who were safe. Even with this being such an honor in their district, both their houses would be closed up tonight. Though neither was sure they would return home before sunrise.

[/b]. Her name was called. She looks up, her mouth falling open. For a few seconds, she could swear to God that she was dreaming. Her name was chosen...out of all of these girls. Well, it wasn't much of a shock. Her parents had pushed her into getting more of her name, along with her siblings in exchange for tessera. Like they needed it. They were from one of the richer districts, and they were pretty well off. They just wanted a chance to live in the nice houses built for the winners of the games. It was still a huge shock to her. After her name was called, the first thing she does is look to Sebastian. Her eyes widen for a few seconds, fear evident in her eyes, before she hid it, as she walked onto the stage, not wanting anyone to know she was about to break down. Showing weakness? Not an option here. She would be the first to die if that happened. Looking around, Rachel sighs, praying that someone would volunteer, looking at her sisters. None of them really seemed to care apart from the youngest, who seemed like she was about to run on stage to take her place, but being nine, she couldn't. She was too young. Not like Rachel would even let her. She wouldn't want any of her siblings to step forward, but she knew out of everyone, they'd be the most likely. She was still going to try and compete though if they volunteered. All someone volunteering for her would mean that someone cared if she lived or died. Though, the only one that did seem to care was Sebastian. Seeing the face of the Capitol's representative lighting up made Rachel sick to her stomach. How the hell could anyone be happy at this? Twenty three innocent people were going to die for entertainment, some of them not even being able to fight for themselves. How was this a good thing? Though, the thoughts of who was going to be the male tribute was flooding Rachel's mind. She closes her eyes over, praying in her mind, just hoping that his name wasn't going to be called as the name was drawn. "Sebastian Smythe. "[/b]. She opens her eyes, feeling her stomach falling off of it's mountings. Shaking slightly, she looks down "N-no.."[/b] She whispers. Damn... This wasn't fair! Why did he have to be called out? Would anyone step forward for him? The mayor's son seemed to be more important than just one of the daughters of the second hand man. Though maybe it was a blessing in hiding that he was chosen. At least she would have some form of comfort in the arena. After he stepped on stage, Rachel reaches over to Sebastian's hand as they were standing close enough, giving it a quick, reassuring squeeze. Thankfully, no one seemed ot notice. Which was good for Rachel. She didn't want people to start spreading stories about some crap about "The Lovers of District One". It seemed like some bullshit story the Capitol would come away with. " There you go ladies and gentleman, your District One tributes."[/b]. The pause almost kills Rachel as the Representative turns to look at them "May the odds be ever in your favor."[/b] Rachel gives him a wry smile, before turning away, trying to just block everything happening out. Everything seemed to drag on...Rachel didn't move at all, apart from the rising and falling of her chest as she tries to keep her emotions under control. After everyone left to celebrate, Rachel finally moves, turning to look at Sebastian. She looks at him for a few seconds, before wrapping her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly. She bites down on her lip, biting back any sobs that threatened to escape her lips. This had literally been the longest day of his life. It had started out as simple as any other reaping day. He had had breakfast with his family. Then he would spend time talking with Rachel before they had to get themselves ready to go and see if they were the ones chosen. They were the same age. Every reaping day he prayed to whatever god would listen that they not be choosen. His father had never made him submit tessera. They had never had the need to. Though her family made them even though they were far from ever needing them. It was just too much to think about one of them getting chosen and them never see each other again. he just could handle the thought of loosing her. She was too important to him. She was the only one that really knew him.
Five years. That was how long they had lasted through reaping day. Apparently, six wasn't their lucky number. They were both going to have to fight for their lives. He would do everything he could to get them to the final two and them he would have her kill him. It was the only way that she would survive. She had to survive this. She was more important than he would ever be. No one had stepped up to save either of them. He had known why. The only person that would save him was her and vice versa. The ceremony had dragged on. It was way too much for either of them. Though it would be tougher on her. That was why he was always there for her. She needed someone who would always make sure that she was okay.
When the area was clear of people cause everyone had gone off to celebrate, Rachel turned to him. He followed suit. Looking down at her, trying to figure out how she was realyl taking this. He knew she was scared but she had never done anything like squeeze his hand to comfort him. Then her arms were around her waist and she seemed to be fighting the urge to cry. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and rests his head on hers. You can cry if you need to. I won't tell anyone.

After five years of surviving the reaping..Rachel started to believe that maybe they would be spared of the Games. That all they had to worry about was their Tributes winning. But no..They were going to be heading to the Captiol, where at least one of them was going to die. If Rachel was going to be honest, she believed it would be her. Sebastian was more able at the whole fighting thing than she was. Rachel could fight some off, but with the Careers? She knew she had no chance.
There were two things that Rachel hates about this...No one cared enough about her to step forward and volunteer, and the same was for Sebastian it seemed. Well, there was one person for each of them, and volunteering wouldn't do much help. It was the person they were both currently looking at, after all. The worst part of though, was that they might have to kill one another. Something told her that Sebastian wouldn't kill her, and probably try to get her to kill him if they were the final two. Though...Rachel couldn't do that. She would find some way to let them both live, or she would maybe have them die together..Like Romeo and Juliet. Rachel's brow furrowed slightly...Why had she just compared those two to her and Sebastian..? She didn't know...Her brain wasn't wired correctly right now. Everything was....scrambled. Though, with Sebastian being the other tribute, and her being unable to walk? It worked out pretty well in a way. She always needed someone to make sure she was okay, being pretty unstable at times, and Sebastian was the always one she could count on being there for her.
Seeing Sebastian turning towards her, she smiles at him, that alone reassured her slightly. It was clear she was terrified. Even people who didn't know her would know that she was at least scared. Feeling his arms around her shoulder, and resting his head on top of hers, Rachel hiccups slightly, still fighting the temptation to cry. "You can cry if you need to. I won't tell anyone."
[/b][/i]. Trusting Sebastian completely about not telling anyone, and being comfortable enough to let him seeing her cry, Rachel nods, before breaking down sobbing into his chest. "I-it isn't fair, S-Seb.."[/b]. She sniffs, glancing up at him "I mean...why was it us?"[/b] WORDS:[/B] 401 MUSE:[/B] THIS IS WAR[/SIZE][/FONT][/URL] TAGS:[/B] SEBASTIAN~ NOTES:[/B] ASDFGHJKL they're adorable. They only had to survive this reaping and one more and they would have been home free. The would have been safe and able to live a life they both deserved. Though fate was never that kind to them. he knew she could have been saved. if only her family hadn't made her enter those damn tessera. She would have been safe and he would have fought his way back. Something told him that his death would have destroyed her had he managed to be the only one going. He had to get them threw him. She was too important. He was nothing. he'd get her through this. He had to. There wasn't much that needed to convince him that they had to survive. They needed each other like the sun needed the moon. They were two halves of a whole.
What killed him the most was neither got a fair shot. They had been brought up spoiled and forced to be who they weren't. Then they had found each other. Seven and they knew they needed each other. Though the level was never determined. Now ten years later, standing next to her practically waiting for death to knock at their door, he knew. He'd been waiting till after their final reaping to tell her. Though that day would never come now. One or both would die and whatever may have had a chance never would. As much as he wanted to cry, he'd never do it in front of the crowd and even when they left, he'd let her break down first. It was the gentlemanly thing to do.
When his arms wrapped around her, it felt so natural. Like she fit there perfectly. Like she was made for him. The tragic irony of all this was this would be the only time he'd get to hold her. That thought alone was breaking his heart. he felt her cry into his shirt and he gently started to stroke her hair. I-it isn't fair, S-Seb.. She turns her head up to look at him. Even when sad her still is completely in awe of her. I mean...why was it us? he reached up with his thumb and wiped the tears from her cheek. I wish I had an answer for you, Rach. Kissing her forehead, he felt his eyes start to glaze over.

If it wasn't for her family allegedly needing her to exchange slips for tesserae, Rachel really didn't think she would be standing with Sebastian right now, and that she'd be back home, just worrying about what was going to happen to him..Maybe that was better...so that there was a chance they'd both live, that she would see him again....but she would probably literally die if he did in the arena. She couldn't imagine her life without him. She needed him in her life more than anything. The best that she could do was stand by his side for as long as possible.
Staying in his arms, it did feel to Rachel that she actually belongs there. She didn't want to have to break away from his hold, but she knew that at some point, she would have to. The only thing that was probably keeping her sane right now was the stroking of her hair. It was incredibly relaxing, and the fact that it was Sebastian that was doing it made it all the better. Feeling him brushing away the tears falling down, Rachel manages a small smile as she looks up at him, giving a light sniff. " I wish I had an answer for you, Rach"
[/b][/i] Rachel swallows back, her lips shaking as she sighs softly. She wasn't really expecting an answer, but there was a small part of her hoping that she was going to get one. Rachel smiles up at him when he kisses her forehead, but noticing his eyes glazing over, she frowns, holding onto him tighter "Will you miss me?"[/b] WORDS:[/B] 268 MUSE:[/B] MEET ME HALFWAY[/SIZE][/FONT][/URL] TAGS:[/B] SEBASTIAN~ NOTES:[/B] FOREVER SOBBING[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify][/size]

This couldn't the end. Sebastian was going to make that she new. He couldn't let her die without her knowing. Though if he had it his ways then she would make it home. Though she wouldn't have him. Still he knew that she had to know. No, she deserved to know. So many time he'd almost blown it. Though he keep telling himself just wait until after your last reaping. Technically this would be their reaping. Sooner than he liked one of them would be no more if not both of them. It would kill him if she didn't know the truth.
This girl in his arms didn't deserve this. She deserved happiness. he so badly wanted to give her that. Though he could do nothing to ave them from their impending fate. Though the best he could do was try not to cry. He needed to be strong. He was going to take whatever time they had left and make it matter. He might only have a few weeks what he wishes he had a lifetime to do. This was his shot to prove that she really meant something to him. That the last ten years was all true and not just an act like every other aspect of both of their lives. Will you miss me? She was frowning as she tightened her hold on him. He wanted to see her smile. even if it was only for one more night. Every second of every minute that I am away from you. Then he slipped his hand under her chin and looked into her eyes. Send the night with me? They didn't have to be at the train until the morning. He was going to spend his last night of freedom with her.

It was still hard for her to take in that the end was fastly approaching for her. IF Rachel was going to be honest, she always thought her life would end at an old age, a few years later after her husband with her family surrounding her during her final moments after struggling with illness..But it wasn't to be. She was going to die at seventeen from a sword to the back, or an arrow to the face. Not exactly how she wanted to go. Hell, she didn't ever want to die, but she knew that it would happen, but just not so young. Why the hell had she convinced herself that she wouldn't need to participate in the Games? Her chances were only going to increase as she got older, what with her name being added in a little more each year. It was probably only hope that kept her going throughout the years. Though, she had no hope now. It was just the end for her.
"Every second of every minute that I am away from you."
[/i][/b]. She smiles a little through her tears when he spoke. No one ever really cared about her. Not really. Her parents cared just enough about her to keep a house over her head, keep her well feed, but that was it. Otherwise, she would have had to exchange slips for tessarae. Feeling his hand under her chin, a sob catches in her throat as she looks into his eyes. "Send the night with me? "[/i]. [/b]Smiling a little, Rachel nods "I'd love to."[/b]. This was never his plan. He'd had a plan all worked out and everything. When the times rolled around after their final Reaping, he was going to ask her to meet him at the old oak tree. It was where they use to go hen they were younger. He had been going to make his move. If everything when how he had wanted than they would have a haappy life. He was going to make sure that she was happy and cared for. make sure that were they to have a family those kids would never have to be in these games. Though all hope was gone for that know. he had to do his best to get her home and let her have a life even if he couldnt give it to her. If she wouldn;t kill him then he wold make sure that he died once no one was left to kill her. It was how it had to be. She had to live. Simply because if she didn't it would be all his fault.
Knowing what Rachel's life was like, as he had a similair life, he tried his best to make her feel cared for despite that he couldn't be honest about his feelings as he didn't want her to worry more if they were going to be fine. Though now they weren't fine and she had to know. He had to tell her. I'd love to. He gave her a half smirk and was about to speak. Then he decided against it and leaned in to capture her lips.

Rachel didn't really have any ideas of how she wanted her life to be like after the Reapings, but if she got her way, Sebastian was going to be there for almost everything. Either as a friend or something more, Rachel didn't care. She just wanted him to be with her in some way for the rest of her life. Though, if she was going to be honest, she wanted something more. It didn't seem like that was ever going to happen, seeing as how at least one of them was going to die. Where Rachel stood, she saw herself being the one to die. She would refuse to kill him if he was in the final two with her, and either take her own life or try and live it out for as long as she could. Either that, or she would be dead long before then. Which, actually, seemed more likely. Seeing his half smirk, Rachel gives a weak smile, raising an eyebrow when it seemed like he was going to say something, wondering what it was when Sebastian stopped himself. Though, she didn't need to ask though because before she knew it, Sebastian had leaned in, and immediately, Rachel pressed back, wrapping her arms around his neck.

This was harder on him than he thought. Sebastian had wanted the future he had thought out so bad. It would have been a life with Rachel and he would have been happy. Though since the future was torn away from them now, he was throwing caution to the wind and saying to screw everything. It would all be okay. He would fight for them both. He would never give up and either he'd kill himself and let her win the games and come home alive or he would just live in the arena with her until the people watching got bored and gave up on either of them killing each other. There were so many possibly that could happene. Though he was going to make sure that she knew what he felt in case one or both of them were to die. He couldn't let her die without her knowing. It was too much for him to keep from her at this point. When he had leaned down and kissed her, he was happily pleased when her arms went around his neck. He wrapped his around her waist and pulled her closer, deepening the kiss ever so slightly. TAGGED; Rachel STATUS; Complete! WORDS; 201 MUSE; MOONSHINENOTES; i want to cry again

Rachel knew that her future was non existent now. She only had about a few weeks left of life. So now? Every single moment had to be favoured. Had to be enjoyed. And Rachel knew that was only going to be possible if it was spent with Sebastian. He was the one she wanted her future to be with, and it looked as though that was about to happen. Huh...Maybe the Games might have been some weird blessing in disguise? Yeah...Unless they both somehow managed to make it out alive, that wasn't likely now, was it? But who the hell knew what these Games would bring? Maybe, they would get lucky, and a good number of the other Tributes would have no clue what they were doing. Feeling him wrapping his arms around her waist and pull her closer, Rachel complies, pressing herself against Sebastian, wrapping her arms around his neck further, slightly tilting her head to the side as she continues to kiss him, and as Sebastian deepens the kiss. It just felt...natural, really. Everything about kissing Sebastian..

So, what if his future was uncertain now. Sebastian was just going to have to enjoy every moment that he had left. That ment spending as much time as he could with Rachel. That was hope he was going to spent his time. She belonged near him. maaybe it would have been better if someone had stepped up and took her place. Then he would have the chance of coming home to her instead of the fear that one or both of them dying. There was no way to change anything now. He just had to do his best to keep her with hi for as long as he could. He had no life if he lost her. That was what it had all come down to. He just wanted to hold her and make sure that she knew that she was cared about. Also he really hoped that this kiss was proving to help because he was pretty much pouring his heart into it. Maybe she would understand what he was trying to tell her with this kiss. TAGGED; Rachel STATUS; Complete! WORDS; 179 MUSE; MOONSHINENOTES; it's all breaking my heart

She knew that they weren't going to have a future together. Unless something happened in the arena that let two victors win at the final two, and she managed to make it that far with Sebastian. She knew he would be able to make it. Rachel knew that Sebastian would be able to win unless he was caught off guard or something like that.
