Today just wasn't Kurt's day at all. He'd slet right through his alarm, and none of his dorm mates thought to wake him up. So, he had to forego breakfast, otherwise he was going to be late for class. And McGonagall wouldn't be at all happy if he'd turned up late. But as soon as he sat down in class, he realized that it wasn't a good idea. His stomach had been screaming at him all morning, and he could barely concentrate, and nearly set the poor Hufflepuff girl who was sitting in front of him hair on fire. He gained a detention with McGonagall, and extra homework to make sure he was sure that he knew how to do the spell right. Never in his seven years at Hogwarts, had Kurt ever had to be given extra homework because of how poorly he did, and he certainly never had a problem with getting detention.
Arithmancy didn't go well either, despite it being one of his best subjects. He'd left his textbook in his dorm in his mad rush this morning, and he completely forgot to double check he had all of his books. He was told to just borrow the textbook of his partner, who, unfortunately, happened to be the Hufflepuff whose hair he'd set on fire. As soon as she heard she had to share her book with him, the Hufflepuff flared her nostrils and turned away, refusing to let him even glance at the book. This left Kurt to fill out his charts from memory of how the numbers worked.
Lunch was slightly better. He got there in time before all the good food went away from the far more pig-like members of his house. Seriously, some of the boys in Slytherin made him sick. It was like they were raised in a barn, rather than the fancy manors like they claimed. He also didn't get any crap from any other students as he walked through the corridors. Maybe it was just a bad morning he had. He certainly hoped so. Kurt had Double Potions, so the afternoon looked pretty good.
But then Potions had actually started. Because most of them had actually been doing pretty well with their progress through the book so far, Slughorn decided that they could make whatever potion they wanted, provided that they'd done it before. A few of the lazier students, who clearly only took N.E.W.T level Potions to fill up their timetable went for potions from first year. Kurt looked though his book, and settled for the Draught of Living Dead, going through the instructions quickly, and accurately.
It was going pretty well, until the midway stage, where the liquid should've been black. It had turned bright orange, and was bubbling. At this, Kurt furrows confusion. He'd followed the instructions exactly, so why wasn't it the colour it was supposed to be. Kurt leans into his cauldron, trying to figure out what exactly what he'd done wrong, when the cauldron suddenly explodes, and the potion splatters over his face, his skin starting to burn when hearing two Gryffindors guffawing behind him. If Kurt was going to guess, they were responsible for this, probably throwing something from Zonkos into his cauldron, or just some random ingredients. Slughorn just tutted, and led him out of the class and up to the Hospital wing, muttering something about how he had a rash on his face from when the potion exploded it. It took all of Kurt's willpower not to just throw a hissy fit at this. Brilliant. It was going to take so much work to get his skin back to how it usually was.
He was in the Hospital Wing for a while, as there seemed to be a higher amount of students in there than normal. Though, eventually, Madam Pomfrey came over and cleared his face up, allowing him to actually leave the Hospital Wing for the day.Kurt picks up his book bag, thanking Madam Pomfrey as he leaves. Touching his face as he makes his way down to the library, frowning to see that it was rougher than usual, but thankfully, it wouldn't take too long to fix. Maybe a week or so.
On his way down to the library, his bad luck for the day didn't seem to be over just yet. Kurt had walked past a suit of armour when a loose strand of his bag caught on to it, ripping it fully open and causing his books to scatter across the floor, and the ink bottles smashed, soaking his textbooks. Kurt lets out a frustrated scream, and shoves his bag into his robe pockets, picking up his books, and his quill, before walking into the library.
He takes a deep breath, relieved to see that not many people were in the room, and none of them were people were ones that were going to give him too much hassle. Kurt walks forward looking through his book pile before sighing, realizing that he'd left his Charms book in the corridor. He lets out an irritated sigh, and walks out of the library, and back to the corridor, looking through the deserted halls before smiling when he sees it under a bench. Kurt bends down, picking it up, before placing it on top of the pile of books, and head off to the library again, not fully paying attention to where he was going before he feels himself colliding with someone's arm, causing his book to fall out of his hands.
Kurt was about to turn around and viciously snap at whoever it was that had walked into him, before Kurt stops himself, realizing just who it was. Feeling his face burning scarlet, Kurt quickly turns away bending down to collect his books, hands fumbling awkwardly as he tries to get all of his books together as quickly as possible so he could just skip the library and retreat to the Slytherin common room for tonight. Out of all the people Kurt had to bump into, why they hell did it have to be him and why, oh why did it have to be today?

For Blaine, the day hadn't been particularly productive. It hadn't been great, hadn't sucked, it kind of just.. was. He didn't really mind, he tended to go round with a smile on his face anyway. Hell, he was a Hufflepuff. It was just what he did. But no, he'd had a lot more time to see Quinn today, and that was always a bonus, since his girlfriend tended to be busy a lot of the time. Blaine respected the schedule she had, and how organised she liked to be when it came to studying and homework, but he wouldn't lie, he tended to miss his cuddles. Which was why, today, when he'd got an hour extra than usual with her, his smile had brightened considerably for the rest of the day.
Right now he was on his way.. somewhere. Blaine didn't really know. He was just wandering and letting his feet take them where they wanted to go, and he found himself strolling towards the library, though not going inside. He glanced at it a little, though promptly decided he wasn't in the mood for studying, or just general reading. Blaine was just going to mooch round, see who he saw, talk to whoever wanted to chat, just take in the beauty of the castle. Because, really, most students didn't appreciate just how amazing Hogwarts was. Blaine didn't really, either, but he currently had nothing to do and the Hufflepuff common room was as loud as hell, as always. Blaine loved to be sociable, but at that level? No. And since he was a prefect anyway, it would most likely be frowned upon. He should be stopping the ruckus, not joining in. Which tended to be the case on most days, and with most large parties of people. Blaine couldn't help it - he was just naturally friendly.
Which was why, when he pretty much shouldered his way into some other kid walking past due to the fact he really wasn't looking where he was going, Blaine immediately felt bad. Seeing he'd made the other boy drop his books, Blaine bit down on his bottom lip, dropping to his knees to help pick them up. Catching a glance of green across the boy's robe, Blaine wondered why he hadn't been snapped at yet, but didn't question anything. Maybe the Slytherin was in a good mood, or recognised Blaine as a prefect. Whatever it was, it wouldn't be just because the snake wanted to be nice.
Gathering up a few of the books the Slytherin hadn't, Blaine started with his apology, eyes down as he gathered up scattered sheets. " I'm so sorry, I really wasn't paying attention.. I hope I didn't hurt you. "
He peered under a nearby bench, crawling under it a little to reach, neatly slipping it inside the correct book. " I think I've got everything.. if you get to a class tomorrow and something's missing, just tell them it's my fault, okay? Blaine Anderson. " Carefully rising to his feet, Blaine waited for the other boy to do the same, before gently passing the books towards him. Frowning a little, Blaine tried to gather where he'd seen this boy before, before it hit him. This Slytherin sat with Quinn a lot at mealtimes. Who else could it be? " Are you.. Quinn's brother? Quinn Fabray? " Quinn told Blaine about her brother from time to time, well, her stepbrother, but Blaine had never actually met him in person. Just seem them sitting together, or walking down the hall. But the other boy always seemed to disappear before Blaine could get a chance to say anything to him. Racking his brain for the answer, Blaine frowned to himself, closing his eyes a little before grinning, clicking his fingers. " Kurt Hummel, right? " He asked, his smile bright across his lips as he hoped to god that was the right name. If it wasn't, he was going to look like a total idiot. His gaze falling a little, his eyes fell on the slightly rough patch on Kurt's cheek, concern growing across his features. " Whoa, are you okay..? What happened? " He asked, softly, not really sure why he was caring, but going with the flow nonetheless. WORDS : 728. TAG : Kuuurt. :D MUSE : NONE NOTES : I rambled too. Out of all the people Kurt could've possibly ran into today, it just had to be Blaine Anderson, didn't it? It didn't matter who it was, whether it was a fellow Slytherin, or prefect, Kurt would've snapped at the person if they'd bumped into him, and caused his books to fall out of his hands. But with Blaine..? Kurt ... he just couldn't find it in him to snap at Blaine. It had nothing whatsoever to do with him dating his sister, because if Kurt was going to be honest, Quinn's boyfriend really wouldn't have cared, and snapped anyways.
But Blaine was different. He was...unbelievably nice, unlike most of the people at this school. And he was gorgeous. Incredibly so. Almost to the point where it just...wasn't fair. Kurt had been wanting Blaine for a long time. He couldn't really remember when these feelings had started, and how they came to be, but it was probably some time after second year, when Blaine wasn't a first year any more. Kurt wanted to tell Blaine, but before, he never found the courage to tell him how he felt.
Now, Kurt knew that was something that he could never do. Blaine had a girlfriend. A girlfriend that just happened to be Kurt's sister. Even if they broke up for whatever reason, Kurt knew that he had no chance in hell of being with Blaine, or having Blaine feeing anything towards him. All he was to him probably, was Quinn's brother, who made himself scarce whenever Blaine was around. Kurt couldn't make conversation with him without the fear of sounding like a complete idiot. And Kurt couldn't use the excuse that he wanted to leave Blaine and Quinn so they could spend time together. Kurt was stuck in a situation where he would undoubtedly make a complete and utter fool of himself.
"I'm so sorry, I really wasn't paying attention.. I hope I didn't hurt you."
Kurt just shakes his head, glancing up at Blaine. "I-It's fine...I'm fine. Don't worry about it" Kurt said hastily, internally surprised to hear his voice higher than usual. Kurt grabs the books and, annoyingly, the sheets that had fallen out that were in his reach, letting Blaine take the ones closer to him. "I think I've got everything.. if you get to a class tomorrow and something's missing, just tell them it's my fault, okay? Blaine Anderson.". Kurt shakes his head again. "No, I'm pretty sure that's everything." Kurt says, trying to get his voice back to normal, clearing his throat. "A-and...I know who you are". Wow. Kurt just made himself sound like a creep with stalkerish tendencies. He was an idiot. It was official. Kurt slowly stands up, biting his lip as he looks up at Blaine. Mumbling a "thank you" to Blaine as the Hufflepuff hands him his books, Kurt pushes his hair back, continuing to watch Blaine, eyes widening a little in concern as Blaine frowns, wondering whether or not if he should just leave right now before he made things even worse. Yep. That certainly seemed like the best course of action right now. "Are you.. Quinn's brother? Quinn Fabray?" Quinn. Yeah. Right. Of course she was going to be brought up here. Why wouldn't she be? It was probably all Kurt was to Blaine. Quinn's brother. It really all he was to people, despite being Head Boy. Quinn was better known after all. The pretty, blonde prefect was going to be more well known than the incredibly awkward, and easily angered Head Boy after all. Letting out a slightly exasperated sigh, Kurt nods, somehow managing a small smile. "Yep... I'm Quinn's brother" Kurt bites his lip when Blaine frowns again, tilting his head to the side in question. From before, Kurt could only guess that Blaine was thinking about something again, and Kurt had a feeling that it wasn't going to be long before he found out what exactly Blaine had been thinking about. Kurt raises an eyebrow quizzically when Blaine grins, and clicks his fingers "Kurt Hummel, right?" Kurt gives a small laugh, shrugging his shoulders. "Yes....that's me.... Nice that we've officially met now.." Kurt tries to return the bright smile that Blaine was giving him, somewhat succeeding. It did make it a lot less awkward -- even though Kurt was sure that it couldn't get any more awkward. Unless Kurt said something unbelievably stupid again. And if then? Kurt could only wish that the ground would just...swallow him whole or something. And at Hogwarts, something like that really wouldn't shock him. Kurt's eyes widen slightly again when seeing the look of concerns face. Oh god, what happened? Was something wrong with Blaine and Kurt was just being a complete oblivious moron this whole time, and he'd only just noticed it now? He then noticed that Blaine's eyes where on his cheek, and Kurt had to wonder why. Then he remembered. Those stupid Gryffindors. Brilliant. Not only was he being incredibly awkward, but Kurt probably looked like he had some kind of.. disease or something. Just when he thought today couldn't get any worse. "Whoa, are you okay..? What happened?" Why was Blaine even caring? There was no reason for him to. Wait.... was Blaine maybe .. interested in him? No...Blaine was with Quinn, and more than likely straight. So, that couldn't be it. But it was Blaine he was talking about. It was just him being friendly or something. Kurt was just getting a little hopeful there. Feeling the rough bit of skin on his face, Kurt just lets out a sigh, and shakes his head, waving his hand, trying to dismiss the matter. "It's nothing.." Kurt mumbles, looking down to avoid Blaine's gaze. Kurt really didn't want to have to explain to him. Kurt didn't need to trouble Blaine with his problems. It just didn't feel ... right to Kurt.
