Kurt was actually incredibly surprised that his interview had went a lot better than he thought it would. Sure, he wasn't as charming as he should've been, but as he saw it? Kurt didn't feel like he'd make himself completely unlikeable. Though, he probably wasn't going to be getting any sponsors any time soon. It was, admittedly, not a surprise to Kurt, so he tried not to let it get to him too much. Sure, he was upset that he was really going to have to work to get Panem to like him, but it was too early to think about that now. Though, then again, he didn't actually get a bad score after his private session. It wasn't a twelve or anything, but it was a lot better score than he thought he would get. After swearing rather foully at the Gamemakers, when they completely blanked him during his private session. It was the best he'd done during the whole week of Training, and they just ignored him like that. After his...less than pleasant session with them, Kurt was sure he would get a one, or hell. Maybe they'd punish him so badly, that he'd get a freakin' zero. But he didn't. Kurt managed to pull a respectable eight. So, his chances of getting a sponsor weren't as poor as he thought. Though, that didn't matter right now. Kurt knew that. He knew what he had to do. He just had to focus on actually getting to the arena.
After the interview, Kurt sees Will and Chris for the last time. The advice given from Chris wasn't at all helpful, but Will? He actually did help, telling them to try and get close to a source of water. Which made enough sense, to Kurt. They couldn't guarantee getting any at the Cornucopia. Saying his goodbyes to both his mentors, Kurt heads straight to his room. Washing all of the make up and product out of his hair from the interview, Kurt doesn't even bother putting on nightclothes, just going straight to sleep.
Or, trying to. Kurt woke up every fifteen minutes or so, just waking up, thrashing around, and having nightmares about what was going to come. After this happens a few times, Kurt curses under his breath. This wasn't good. At this rate? Kurt wasn't going to make it. He was going to be the first to die. He had to get to sleep if he wanted to make some progress. Sighing, Kurt realizes that the only way he was going to get any sleep whatsoever was to walk around and clear his mind. Go up to the rooftop, maybe. Walking over to the wardrobe -- it wasn't really his...It didn't feel like it -- Kurt takes out a robe, closing it, before walking out. There wasn't anyone on the rooftop, thankfully. This was going to make it easier to clear his mind. Kurt didn't mind talking to Rory, like he did a few nights ago, but Kurt didn't want to talk to anyone. He needed his mind clear, and talking to someone about his impending death wasn't going to help that.
After about half an hour of the cold air hitting his face, Kurt feels a lot more drowsy, and he walks away from the rooftop, and heads back to his room. He throws the robe off over a chair, and slips back into his bed, falling asleep almost instantly. Kurt still had the same nightmares, but at least he wasn't waking up. He was going to be rested. Kurt finally opens his eyes, feeling someone shaking him, whispering softly. For a few moments, Kurt could almost swear that he was back in District Eight; that everything after he turned eight was just a nightmare, and his mother was waking him up. But opening his eyes, and seeing the familiar bright magenta, he knows that he is actually still in the Capitol.
Marta's face lights up when seeing him open his eyes. Throughout the past week, Kurt definitely decided that not everyone from the Capitol was all that bad. Marta was living proof of that. Sure, she was a little...different from what he was used to, but for the most part? Marta was pretty normal, and Kurt wouldn't have minded to meet her again if he ever made it out of here. Of course, if he did win, Kurt would meet her again because of the Victory Tour, but that wasn't really what he meant.. Kurt would love to speak to Marta without the Games ever being involved with their meeting. It would be beyond amazing, really. So far, Marta was pretty much the only thing that was making his stay in the Capitol bearable. She was just a brilliant friend.
After he's fully awake, Marta gives him a shift to wear. When she's done flattening his hair down, Marta takes his hand and leads him to the roof, her grip tight. Seemingly out of nowhere, a hovercraft appears after they reach the roof, and a ladder drops down. Kurt swallows back, looking at the ladder, his gaze slowly lifting up to the hovercraft itself a little hesitantly, before he starts climbing up the ladder, his grip a little shaky. Though, before he can get up more than two rungs, Kurt is pretty much just glued to the ladder as it pulls him inside the hovercraft.
Once in the hovercraft, Kurt feels a stabbing pain in his arm. Gasping out loudly, Kurt looks to his side, raising his eyebrows irritably at the Gamemaker who just shoved the syringe with the tracker into his arm without any warning. Kurt knew why they had to do it, and sure, he knew it was going to happen before hand. But Kurt had no warning whatsoever that a crazy bat of a Gamemaker would just assault him with the syringe.
The ladder releases him, and Kurt rubs his arm gingerly, and watches as the ladder retrieves Marta from the roof. Marta smiles at him once she's in the hovercraft, before an Avox girl comes along, and takes them both to where they were to have breakfast. The food looks delicious, like the food usually does here in the Capitol, but when Kurt sits down and takes a bite, it just takes like ash in his mouth, and he finds it hard to swallow. Feeling a warm hand on top of his own, Kurt looks down, before holding Marta's gaze, her long magenta curls framing her face. "You need to eat, Kurt. You won't last if you don't"
The windows black out after about half an hour has past. Kurt feels his stomach churning, and it feels as though the breakfast he'd just ate was going to come back up. He was terrified. Kurt could just about here that Marta was talking, though her softly spoken words didn't register at all. He knew that it wasn't anything really important -- just words of encouragement. Kurt wanted to listen to her, but yeah.. His mind was completely scrambled, yet at the the same time, it was completely blank. They're both giving instructions on how to get to the Catacombs. It was just as well that Marta was in the right state of mind to register what was being said, because if Kurt was on his own? He could not make it there, and would just stand there looking lost. Like he'd just accidentally wandered into the Captiol in a daze.
Marta fixes his hair, so that his fringe wouldn't be flying in his face, but leaving it so it wasn't as elegantly styled as it was during any time he was on camera. For once, he wasn't wearing something that Marta had designed for him, as this was in the hands of the Capitol, though she helps him put on the undergarments, and the rest of the clothes given by the Capitol. It wasn't as bad as Kurt thought it would be, but then again. His clothes weren't to make him look good; they were to help him out in the arena. Or hinder him. It depended on how cruel the Gamemakers were this year, and if they wanted to see them all suffer twice as much as they usually would. Kurt sincerely hoped it was the former. He wasn't going to last long as it was. Having clothes that would hinder him... He was going to be the first to go, for sure.
Kurt stands completely still, looking at himself in the mirror. "Kurt? Come over here,"[/b][/i] Hearing Marta's voice, Kurt turns around, and walks towards her. "What is it...?"[/b]. Kurt was a little nervous. He wasn't sure why the hell Marta wanted him to approach her, but there was a nagging voice in the back of his mind telling him that it was a trap, and she was going to turn on him. Seeing the panicked look on his face, Marta emits a soft laugh and shakes her head. "Kurt, calm down. I'm just giving you something.[/b][/i]. Raising his eyebrows at her, Marta then takes something out of her pocket, slowly twirling a silver chain around her thin fingers. "Your tribute token. I know you'd want this with you."[/b][/i]
Before Kurt can reply, Marta walks over to him, and slips the chain around his neck, clasping it at the back. Bringing his fingers up, Kurt's confused face softens into a smile, seeing what she'd put around his neck. Yet again, Marta had brought him back his mother's locket. Laughing softly, Kurt looks up at her "What is it with you and always putting this locket around my neck..?"[/b] He asks, laughing softly. Marta laughs again, and just shakes her head. "I know how important it is to you, is all. Just seeing you being so unwilling to part with it is proof of that."[/b][/i]. Giving a slight shrug, Kurt smirks weakly, before throwing his arms around Marta, muttering a "thank you" in her ear. Marta says nothing, but pats his back lightly.
There is still some time to spare, so Kurt takes a drink of water before pacing around quickly, chewing at his lip so much that blood starts trickling down his chin. He doesn't notice this until Marta stands up, and places a hand on his chin, wiping it away. "Do you want to talk...?"[/b][/i]. Kurt shakes his head, only being able to do so once or twice, just feeling incredibly dizzy. "No...I think I'm going to puke"[/b]. He mumbles, glancing at the floor. "Well, either do it now, or after you get out of the Cornucopia. If you do it on your way there, you really won't have a high chance."[/b][/i] Marta says, joking lightly. Kurt looks up at her, glaring at her, furiously. He really couldn't believe that Marta had said something like that. And to think that Kurt thought she was actually sane...
Marta frowns, and holds his shoulder. "Hey... you know I'm joking, right...?"[/b][/i] Marta says, her eyes wide. "Look, you'll do fine, I promise you. You didn't get a bad score, remember? I'm sorry."[/b][/i] Kurt slowly looks up at Marta, seeing the look on her face. She did look really sorry for saying that. Sighing, Kurt shakes his head. "S'okay..."[/b]. He did mean it, and he knew that Marta hadn't actually intended to say something like that. But Kurt couldn't help but feel a little mad. Joking to the Tributes about them dying wasn't exactly the right thing to do. Marta just... She didn't get it. She never had to live in the fear of being chosen. The fear of being sent off to your death, or seeing someone you love in the same situation, and potentially see them die before your eyes. That wasn't really fair though either. Kurt didn't go so far as to say that he and Marta loved each other, but he knew that they were pretty close. So yeah, it would probably hurt for Marta, seeing all the Tributes she'd been their designer for dying.
Hearing the voice, telling them to prepare to launch, Kurt whimpers, clutching tightly onto Marta's arm, his breath quickening rapidly. "M-Marta.. I'm n-not ready"[/b]. Kurt whimpers again, his voice coming out weak, and he breathes heavily between his words. Marta rubs circles in between his shoulder blades smoothly. "Kurt, try and stay calm. Remember: Get what you need, get out of there was quickly as you can, and find and stay close to water."[/b][/i] She says. Quickly, she presses a soft kiss on his lips before pulling back. "I have faith in you."[/b][/i]. Kurt suddenly just felt a hell of a lot more lighter. Sure, he still felt heavy, but at least he could move now. "R-really?"[/b] He splutters out, staring at Marta with disbelief. "Really[/b][/i] Marta smiles softly at him. She then tucks her thin, warm fingers under his chin and tilting it upwards. "Chin up."[/b][/i]. She says firmly. Brushing him down, Marta steps back. "Now go. Make her proud, Hummel"[/b][/i] She says giving a wink.
Kurt smiles weakly, and nods, about to lunge forward to hug Marta again before the glass cylinder appears, cutting him off from her. Kurt panics slightly, knowing that there was no way in hell he could get away now. He looks around, holding Marta's gaze, his eyes wide. Marta just smiles at him, and he can just make out what she'd mouthed to him "Good luck"[/b][/i]. Kurt takes a deep breath, keeping his gaze on Marta as the metal plate pushes him out, and for around fifteen seconds, Kurt's in complete darkness. Kurt wasn't sure if that was because it was completely dark anyway, or if it was because his eyes were closed. But, the harsh sunlight coming through his eyelids helps him come to the conclusion that it was dark in the cylinder anyway. Kurt slowly opens his eyes, the wind hitting him straight way, the smell of pine trees strong.
"Ladies and Gentleman, let the Seventy Fourth Hunger Games begin!"[/b][/i] the famous voice of Claudius Templesmith rings out through the arena. At those words, time just seems to stand still, every second lasting about an hour. Kurt looked around, looking at all of the Tributes. Or trying to. His eyes fall immediately on District's Four female, and she looked murderous. So, Kurt realizes that it's best to just focus on the Cornucopia. Sixty seconds. He had sixty seconds to memorize what was in there, see what was in there. Kurt's eyes fall on a set of bow and arrows. There was at least three from what Kurt could see. This was good. His chances were still slim -- one in eight, at least -- but at least it wasn't one in twenty four, or even worse -- not being a set there at all. It was so tempting just to lunge forward, and grab them before everyone else. But the landmines? Yeah, that was what made Kurt stay still until the gong rang, signalling that the sixty seconds were over. You might call him crazy? But Kurt did like having his legs in tact. He'd grown fond of them in the past seventeen years of his life.
Looking around him, Kurt sees his surroundings. It's just flat, no signs of a cliff or slope noticeable. To his right, was a lake. Kurt kept that in mind. He needed a source of water after all, and if he couldn't find anything, this was where he could go back to. But he wouldn't go there straight away. That would just get him killed quicker. Looking to his left, he sees woods. This would be the best place to go. He could get away from the others and hide. Later, once the bloodbath was over, and provided that they were both still alive, Kurt would do his best to look for Rory, and try not to get himself, or kill anyone on the way there. Speaking of Rory, Kurt looks around, trying to find him. He finds him pretty quickly, despite him being a bit away from him. Kurt nods in his direction, just counting himself lucky that Scarlett was nearby, so it looks as though he was nodding at her instead. It would make more sense for him to be nodding at her after all now, wouldn't it? Looking to his right, Kurt sees Blaine, about five or six Tributes away from him. Kurt didn't know why he had just looked for Blaine, but maybe it was because he was trying to find all the faces he could put a name to. Yeah...That was probably it.
Kurt doesn't look at Blaine for too long, and looks back at the bow and arrows. He needed to get them. If he couldn't get them, then he needed a sword, or a knife because that was the only way he was going to be able to keep himself alive. Kurt couldn't see the knives straight away, but they were around the middle of the Cornucopia. Kurt didn't know how many knives were there, but Kurt felt he had a pretty good chance of getting his hands on one. So, if the odds were even slightly in his favour, Kurt would get his hands on a weapon. But the knife wasn't what he was concentrating on. He needed the bow and arrow. That was his forte. Once he got his hands on that, and a pack, Kurt would get out there as fast as he could, and run. Just run into the woods and hide until night came. His mind was made up already. His plans had flaws, he knew that, but Kurt knew roughly what he was going to do, and he figured that he'd just have to get over each hurdle as it came to him. All that was left now was to hear that gong, and then? His plan could be put into action.

NOTES:[/b] Yeah, I wrote too much XD Also, I kind of imagined that this would be like the arena in the first book? I've always imagined the plots that we have in that same arena, and most of us have read that one anyway. So...yeahh... Also, this will really just be the bloodbath, and a little while after that. Any of the main plots that we have planned out will be done in other threads. It'll be easier I think, but if you all want to do it here, then that's totally fine ^^ Whatever works best for everyone else.
